Re-entry
Ah the joy of re-entry into real life after vacation...It seems as if there is so much to do around here and all I want to do is sew...not a good combo. Nothing waits for you when you are on vacation, garden weeds grow, dog hair fills the carpets and furniture, zucchini grows too big too fast and life just continues on. Trying to get back into a rhythm always seems to take a bit of work. The kids are looking for something to do constantly, it's truly amazing how much I hear the words "I'm bored" after a fun filled week like we just had. Not that I'm complaining, after all:
The grass may have grown tall around our beans, but they are looking fabulous!
These big-as-my-arm zucchini are going to make some wonderful breads and muffins, maybe even soup.
These first ripe sungold tomatoes were sweet as garden candy!
Looks like there are enough ripe raspberries to make another batch of jam!
The peaches are beginning to tease us with the slightest hint of orange color.
And after seeing just how short Molly's sundress from last summer is...it looks like my sewing machine will get some use after all. This gorgeous turquoise interlock is from the City Weekend collection purchased at Alewives Fabric, I can't wait to get busy on this one!
Finally these two are just going to have to be "bored" on the porch swing eating fresh blueberries from the yard...somehow I think they'll survive.

Making Memories
This was my first time on Block Island and I must say it was a truly beautiful spot. However, no matter where we were I think just being together with extended family made this past week a perfect vacation. It was wonderful to spend time together (mostly at the beach). The water was warm, food was delicious, conversations lively and late night games were lots of fun. I feel so lucky to have such wonderful family around for my children to grow up with and learn from. Thanks to everyone for making our vacation such a joy, especially the grandparents who made it all possible, the smiles were contagious!

This Moment...11 years ago today
Joining Soulemama's this moment rather nontraditional this week...
11 years ago today I pledged my love forever to the most amazing man I have ever known. He is kind, thoughtful, talented beyond belief, silly, beautiful and my rock. The moments since the one pictured above have been wonderful, hard, fast, crazy and overwhelming at times...Through it all our love has grown stronger with each day. He is a part of me and I know today how lucky I am to have this constant companion and one true love.

A give away just because
Those of you who have gotten to know me here in this space or personally know that I have a lot of projects going at any given time. What can I say, I get very excited about trying new things and starting new projects! I'm really trying to learn how to be more organized about it...but sometimes I come to the realization that maybe it's just who I am, and maybe, just maybe I'm OK with that. Anyway...recently I was looking for supplies to start yet another project and stumbled upon this lovely little lady all packed away in a box!
Isn't she sweet as can be! I think I made her about 3 years ago for a craft fair or something along those lines. At first I thought I should sew her a little outfit (yup she was naked) and put her in the etsy shop, but I kept looking at her pretty green eyes and thought this girl has been sitting around just waiting for someone to love her and play with her. I'm so thrilled with the things around me right now, my children are home, our wall is finally coming together, I've got this lovely new niece to knit and sew for, the list goes on and on.
One of the things I am so grateful for these days is the wonderful community I have found here in blogland so I figured hey why not host a give away?
I've been calling her Charlotte in honor of this new baby in our lives. She is a jointed doll hand made in the Waldorf tradition, her skin is organic cotton knit, she's stuffed with organic carded wool and her hair is a wool and mohair blend. I just made her this cute little knit dress today, she'll also fit into any clothing you already have for the 16 inch dolls. She played out in the garden today with the children and can't wait for her new forever home!
To enter to win this darling just comment below. On Saturday morning I'll use the random number generator if I can figure it out, otherwise we'll go old school and draw numbers from a hat:)
Good luck to all! If you have any questions about her just send me an email.
Comments closed! I'm heading over to the random number generator now!

More fun and a hint
As promised, more fun photos from the weekend: My sexy husband had a birthday over this past weekend (like I said, lots of fun). This fair has been going on where he grew up for as long as he can remember right around his birthday! Can you think of a better way to celebrate?
Corey was so sweet and went on all the little kid rides with his 4 year old cousin. |
Even if he didn't always fit:) |
What's a fair without fried dough I ask you? |
These brave big girls opted for much bigger rides |
so high! |
Just look at this sweetness! |
and this sweetness! |
Fun had by all! |
So special to see them like this! They were both truly amazed and delighted by this little one. I look forward to watching them all grow together.
Now for the hint I mentioned. Tomorrow I am doing my first give away ever! I'll tell you all about it then so be sure to check back, but here's a little hint as to what I have in store:)
